Tablecloth & Napkins....NOT! Introducing Schatzinette
This dress is made from one of the ugly fabric candidates. My dance teacher thought it would make a lovely tablecloth and napkins. Saturday, I pulled this 1995 pattern from my stash. I didn't do much except remove some of the fullness from the skirt and lengthen it. Yesterday Barbara of Germany tells me that it looks like a Spring Balenciaga. And asked if I was inspired by it. No, I wasn't. I never saw the Balenciaga until yesterday. What an uncanny resemblance. Right down to the binding placement I used. Okay, so mine is made of cotton and cost less than $10.00 to make. Balenciaga's is made of silk and goes for your monthly mortgage, a car payment or two, some groceries and a Happy Meal. Visit the link when you have a chance. Talk about inspiring. Thank you Barbara, Antoinette and Peggye.

I really love your creations from "ugly" fabric and when I saw your dress, I immediately remembered a dress from the summer collection of Balenciaga. You made a wonderful knock-off of this without even knowing the "original", I assume.
Here is the link if you want to look at the "original":

Isn't it great to have a designer gown for much less money? Congratulations to your beautiful dress.
Greetings from Germany

Of the three ugly fabric garments this one is my favorite! You have been a busy and productive bee! :)
That's pretty amazing! Love your dress.
What a beautiful dress! And it looks fabulous on you, much better than the model :)

See you have great taste ;D! Beautiful summer maxi. I have yet to finish 2 skirts. Maybe I'll get inspired to get to work again soon. I asked my friend it help me.
This is fabulous. You have a great body shape too! I'm not sure how you work it out with those nails, but you're doing it girl!
Angela-- you are so sweet! I just got the mail and found your pattern! Thank you so much. This is why I blog--I have met the most thoughtful people!! And I do love the bell shape! And I love your maxi dress--I don't think the fabric is ugly--at all!
Luv it. Looks awesome.

I was looking at some of your older posts. You make really pretty things. I especially like the pink skirt with the pleats at the bottom
Lovely dress - the binding is a wonderful detail. I like that the skirt is less full than the original, too.
What an awesome coincidence!
This is my favourite from your "ugly fabric" creations too.
This dress looks great on you!!! Wish I had your figure....how in the world do you work with those nails though...gosh I have had acrylic nails put on at times for special occassions and cant do a think when I have them on...even short ones..LOL
Anyway...well done on all your clothing options. The pink skirt is so cute too....again, it looks great on you....hugs Khris in Oz
OMG THAT'S FABULOUS! I does look like the Balenciaga ...but BETTER! I love that it's an older pattern as well and that you totally updated it and made it modern! That is no tablecloth! I love it!
